I'm experiencing a very similar thing in my own art. The thing in my heart that I want to paint, is so very different. I thought perhaps I could do a gradual transition, but I don't know if I can. I think it's time to be bold.
Procrastination is a bitch, Iām very aware of my own too. Go get those parcels and thanks so much for coming to Soif, Chicago loves you and your wines Regan. šš½
Grafting vines is a ton of work. Not just the actual grafting work itself. But the nursing of the fragile (and precious) shoots afterwards.
Why not spread the work over several seasons? Graft 500 - 1000 vines a year? The workload is more manageable and you can siddle up to, and then around the obfuscation which is clearly causing you so much turmoil.
Of course this only works if you do the grafting yourself. Grafting services aren't interested in such small amounts. But we learned how and over 4 seasons grafted about 5000 vines with 70-80% take (one year on). And we made many times the money on Vermentino sold in bottle than mediocre Carignan sold in bulk.

Be bold. Always.

Beautifully said. This IS the moment to move forward, to embrace wine like never before. Passion, after all, is addictive. Thank you for this Reegan.
